In the Grove

By Clara Blair

Bright Sunday afternoon, with sunshine warming us
Through drifting clouds and a brisk south wind
Making ribbons fly. The ground beneath our feet, still
Damp from last week's downpour, is fragrant with
The hope of new life while reminding us of the
Transformation of last year's leaves into new soil.

In the oak grove, the priestess welcomes Spring,
Invites us to form a circle as she asks us to honor
Air, earth, water and fire - the elements of life -
And all the possibilities the growing season brings.
