Crazy Free

By Clara Blair

When we've made the final sacrifice
To the gods we don't believe in
And we know the price of really being free,
May we walk alone together
With our hearts lost in the stars
And be at peace with everything we see.

When we've burnt the final offerings
On the ancient altar stones
And shake off the chains we've worn for way too long,
We will find the truth we've looked for
If our souls are unafraid
To trust the life that makes us what we are.

We seek out the musicians, poets,
Singers and their songs -
There's always someone waiting to be heard.
They want to sing their lives for us,
To share what they have learned,
Their pain and joy a mirror of our own.
