Dancing On The Titanic

By Clara Blair

Dancing on the Titanic,
Catching some shut-eye on the Indianapolis,
Going to work at the World Trade Center,
Having lunch at a fast-food restaurant,
Enjoying afternoon tea at a hotel in Kansas City,
Cooking rice in Nagasaki,
Doing mindless paperwork on the Arizona in Pearl Harbor,
Driving home after work on Interstate 20,
You never know how much time you have left.

Ask your doctors, ask the politicians,
You may as well flip a coin.
Seize the day. Smell the flowers.
Wear that good jewelry, the expensive
Perfume. Do that good deed. Write that letter.
Pick up the phone. Say "I love you."
You have now!
