Reddish Egret, Dancing

By Clara Blair

I dance
My hunting dance
On misty tidal flats.

I spread
My rusty gray wings,
Stepping high and swift.

I stir
My prey from silty shadows,
Snatch it in my beak.

I dance,
You see grace, my fish sees fate,
I see dinner.
