Lately my heart pours out

Lately my heart pours out in prose:
Urging, defending, proposing, protecting.
Passionate prose that feels like a poem:
Yearning, pleading, denouncing, objecting.

Fighting pollution, corruption, deception,
Signing petitions, e-mailing Senators,
For migrating songbirds, manatees, wolves.
Calling my Congressman, writing to editors.

Asking my friends to join in my causes,
Wishing more time to help all that need voices.
Using my hours to stop all these losses,
Searching for words to guide choices.
