Blessed Are The Peacemakers

By John I. Blair

Blessed are the peacemakers;
Theirs are the keys to Heaven.

That’s not their lot on Earth;
On Earth their lot is hate,
Sacrifice and pain their fate.

They upset the status quo,
They stop the fun,
Deny the righteousness
Of what we’ve always done.

Gandhi, Sadat, Martin King,
Peacemakers every one,
Violent deaths were granted.

Just like Jesus, Joseph’s son,
Whose peace on Earth, good will to men,
Was the last thing most folk wanted.
