The Night Is Young

By Bruce Clifford

The night is young but the day was so long
Still trying to figure out where I might belong
I discovered the mountains and ran over June
Thought I could pass up this hot afternoon

The night is young but years pass by
When the strong decide to follow this hole in the sky
My intuition is telling me to let this one go
But my heart and conscience won't leave it alone

The night is young
The night is young

The night is young but my mind has grown weak
I try to change direction to end this chaotic streak
We landed in the shadows as the sun fell out of sight
This time was the last chance to ever get it right

The night is young but the morning comes so fast
Memories of what could have been are living in the past
My foot-print and my birth right might not hold up with the tide
But my soul and all it has collected are still glowing with pride

The night is young but the day was so long
Still trying to understand where someone like me might belong
I discovered the silence and integrated it with sound
To find what has been lost is to discover what's been found

The night is young
The night is young
