Tell Me Stories

By Bruce Clifford

How hard could this be
I already know what I need
How far do I need to go
The past seems so long ago

How hard do I need to fight
I've already stayed up half the night
How can we surface without an excuse
The battle lines and the scars of abuse

Tell me stories I've never heard
Help me through this show and tell
If life is not really that bad
Then why are we living in this vacated hell
Ring the bell

How hard could this be
I already know how to breathe
How much more do I need to try
The synthetic glow of us getting by

So tell me stories I've never heard
Tell me a tale of this mortal earth
Tell me stories of love and pain
Tell me about the void and remains

Tell me stories of the good and bad
Read me a book and make me sad
Tell me a story of another day
Tell me about the one who got away

How hard could this be
I already know what I see
How far do I need to glide
Past days, nights, the men with pride
