Life's Conundrum

By pbobby

Reprint from archived Fall issue 1999>)

We only live for a little while.
That's what we know
That's what we share.

We live as though we'll never die.
That's what we do
That's how we lie.

We think that we should never hurt.
But then we do
That's why we cry.

We feel that joy should be our fare.
That's what we want
That's why we dare.

We seek the truth with nagging doubt.
That's why we fight
This battle out.

We really want a vision clear.
So we can be
What we revere.

We do not know if this can be.
So we shall search
'Til we go free.
