Waiting

By Bruce Clifford

I bet you didn't know when I stood there in the shade
You heard me sort of whisper as you thought you had it made
Your lonely heart is calling to the vision of the few
Look what you are missing when you're taken out of view

Maybe your life only exists when you're right in front of me
When you walk away from my shadow you no longer seem to be
If you had one last chance to take back every word you said
As long as you're out of my view, you're just as good as dead

I bet you didn't see the truth when you walked out onto the street
The science in a loaded question you send running after me
The prison guard of ultra defense makes passion seem like rain
Oh god what are you doing now, are the dead given the words to complain

Maybe your heart never existed as your mind felt so betrayed
When you walked away from the shadow you no longer stand in the way
If you had one last chance to hold me and get on with your song
As you find the memory your missing, you know you knew it all along

All along Maybe your life only exists when you're right in front of me
When you walk away from my shadow you no longer seem to be
If you had one last chance to take back every word you said
As long as you're out of my view, you're just as good as dead

Now it's like you're hiding from yourself
Running from the truth you were chasing
Running from the cosmic replacing
Standing on the corner of justice
Walking with your hands folded
Listening to another station
Taking on a new revelation

Listening
Watching
Holding
I bet you never saw the truth right in front of you
I bet you never saw the moment I arrived
Waiting
Waiting

Maybe your life only exists when you're right in front of me
When you walk away from my shadow you no longer seem to be
If you had one last chance to take back every word you said
As long as you're out of my view, you're just as good as dead
