The Last Tear

By Bruce Clifford

If I save this last tear for you
You could save it and turn into something new
If I hold the night and let emotions fly
Then what else could one do

If I saved this last tear for you
You could hold it and make it hide the blues
If I missed you when this place shuts down
It's not as if we didn't want to be around

Watching it all drift away
Maybe we will meet again in another place
I will always believe this memory could have been saved
Now all I've got left are the signs and images of yesterday

If I saved this last tear for you
This is not goodbye
This is not farewell

If I hold this last tear in my heart
This is not end
This is just the start

Watching it all drift away
We built an empire that can't be saved
I will always know it was not you or I
We got caught up in a stormy tide

If I saved this last tear for you
Hold it close
Take these final days in

If you believe in the last tear of the heart
This is not farewell
This is just the start
