How Many Times

By Bruce Clifford

How many years have you been tugging at my heart
Then you were gone
I thought forever gone

All at once you were back in my life
Here you are
Here we are

Life is never easy and so hard to understand
All the mixed emotions and the need to lend a helping hand

How many songs have I heard throughout the years
They reminded me of all the laughter and all the tears
How many times have I thought you could be near
I had no idea
I had no idea

How many times have you come to me in my dreams
Reminding me of the way things used to be
How many voices have almost sounded like you
How many faces
So many places
