The High Road

By Bruce Clifford

So you think itís alright to come back into my life
Haunting me
Taunting me

If you canít let the old things go youíre better off alone
Hating me
Disrespecting me

I took the high road so many years ago
I found my freedom and learned to let you go
I donít understand why you canít do the same
I guess itís all the memories to blame

I took the high road and I got out
It doesnít mean I donít think about
The way we were, what could have been
I took the high road
The only road to ride again

So you think itís alright to come back into my life
You think itís okay to let the past get in the way
You never learned to let the old past go
I guess itís the only way that you know

But I took the hight road so many years ago
I found my peace and I learned to live and grow
I donít understand why you canít do the same
I guess itís all the memories to blame

I took the high road and I got out
It doesnít mean I donít think about
The way we were, what could have been
I took the high road
The only road to ride again
