Children at Heart

By Bruce Clifford

We are like shadows in a world
Falling in the rain
Touch the naked sky
Try to run away

Leave the world behind
Sense the vast blue seas
Ride it on its crest
Like Tarzan or Hercules

We are not alone here fighting to be free
We are not the cause of this faded memory
We are not the sounds of the fighting in the streets
We are just lost children at heart

Down on wounded knees
Carried through the herd
Reaching for the top
Wanting to be heard

We are not alone here fighting to be free
We are not the cause of this faded memory
We are not the sounds of the fighting in the streets
We are just lost children at heart

We are not the one's who brought the fire to these hills
We are not the men who oiled the oceans with the spills
We are not the one's who took this world apart
We are just small children at heart
We are just, all, children at heart
