Reflections of The Day

By Dayvid Clarkson

This morning I was reflecting on a story a Friend sent me.

“One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off to the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And he was really friendly; I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital! ‘This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it, and sometimes they’ll dump it on you.

Don’t take it personally. Just smile wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.”

The bottom line is that compassionate people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don’t, and by all means have a blessed, garbage-free day!

In our attempt to understand this enigmatic journey we create stories in an attempt to understand this world. Strangely, we tend to believe in our stories as if they were reality and this becomes our mortal experience.

Release the stories and everything you have been taught, you need only comprehend you are on a Spiritual path. Take time before you retire to unburden yourself of all the pre-conceived ideas. Take a moment. This silence, this moment, every moment, is genuinely inside you and brings what you need.

There's nothing to believe. Your life does not require a frantic running from silence. It does not require you to find the answer. Simply live the questions.

On a cold crisp night, I look to the stars, even in the dark, you can see the remnants of navy blue. The crystalline stars seem to define Father Sky as Grand Mother Moon has yet to make her entrance. Contemplating time, it seems we never have enough, always governed by the clock.

What if we understood that we are eternal, that we truly have all the time we require? No time during your past was wasted. This journey is like reading a book, once read another book will appear. If we could learn to read and enjoy without the compulsion to skip over parts and read the last chapter to see how it ends. Enjoy each chapter and relish the storyline.

Sleep well, dream deep my Friends.
