Keeping My Counsel
John I. Blair
Although I knew it wasnít right,
They never asked, so I never said.
I would not speak without request;
I kept my thoughts inside my head
Because I felt they would not heed.
Now years are gone, but even though
My worst fears never came to pass,
Still Iím convinced I was remiss:
The guilt of those too weak to speak
Is great as those who do the deed.
