I Wish I Knew

I wish I could understand why
I wish I could hold your hand and cry
But what's going wrong today
This has got to be a better day
I wish I knew what words to say to make everything all right

Maybe god doesn't exist at all
There was once a time I thought I knew it all
So where do we turn today
If we dream maybe we could find a way
Maybe today is the day we will all be all right

There are no heroes in a world that makes you sad
There are no villains to tie you up and drive you mad

Maybe life was always meant to be
If I had the answers I would have the faith to see
Look where we are headed today
Wish I could run and hide away
I wish I knew that everything would be all right
