Will

By John I. Blair

While I’m still compos mentis,
In full possession of my wits,
It’s time to write a will (or have it written).

What a dreary thought it is
That I won’t live forever,
Nor be in tight control, as now I fool myself.

Disposing of my assets
(And also of my debts)
Appears so metaphorical .

. . I wish it were as easy
To dispose of sins and merits
In an equitable fashion

As it is to leave the house,
The car, the mortgage,
Credit card accounts, cats.
