This Strange World

By Bruce Clifford

This strange world has got me mystified as angels turn to dust
The ocean air and the wind in our hair is abated by this cryptic rust
If memory serves me I could take this chance to find latitude in my dreams
She stood there laughing in search of romance when the ledger falls from her sleeve

This strange world has got me hypnotized as cities crawl from its space
The morning dew and scent of perfume, and the imagery we choose to erase
When the future comes knocking will you let me in to help dignify our last song
I know she can hear me but refuses to listen as we search for the right and the wrong

Show me where I belong

I could still laugh when I need to scream
I have motive but I don't have the dream
I could still cry when the pain runs too deep
I am still part human with the need to believe

This strange world has turned me into another species that doesn't exist
This concept we call evolution is a science with a whole new twist
I know I could still feel and live in the real, but the touch is so out of sync
She stood there looking from the depths of her yes, but mine refused to blink

This strange world has got me mesmerized as I no longer need this air to breathe
The sun's ultra violet rays and space's first dust are gathered like a disease
Show me the words and show me a sign to let me know that this is alright
Maybe she's God or maybe she's not, but who else is in control of this one last night

Show me where I belong

I could still laugh when I need to scream
I have motive but I don't have the dream
I could still cry when the pain runs too deep
I am still part human with the need to believe
