Silo

By Bruce Clifford

They took my silo down when I was half asleep
I can no longer look around for the fallen and the weak
They left a faded void as silence split us into two
Tomorrow will be another day, but tonight I will be alone again
Alone again with you

They shattered what was left of my dreams and left them in the yard
The hole in the door is our only choice if we drive past it in the car
But I remember that spot where my silo used to stand They took the roof and knocked it down all over this vacant land
Where my silo used to stand

I can still drive over the bridge that took me towards the hurricane
The traffic was in reverse, but I was headed towards the rain
Now the landscape is changing and I can't understand
Why is there thoughtless madness where the silo used to stand
Where my silo used to stand

They took my silo down when I was in a dream
I can no longer look around to discover what this could mean
They left a hole in the ground as the chaos rained on this parade
They will never come around to talk about the money that we made
They left a faded void as the silence split us into two
Yesterday is gone, but tomorrow I will be alone again
Alone again with you

Now there is thoughtless madness where the silo used to stand
Take me by the hand
Where my silo used to stand
