New Boy At School

By Mary E. Adair

Like the poem you did.... here is a quick... off the cuff response.....

Although I sit and wonder why
You chose to say a quick goodbye
I realize life is fresh and is mine to enjoy
So today I may just speak to the school's new boy

I notice he doesn't look like you
But, perhaps that is good to recognize too
His smile seems less self-inspired
And when I think of him, I don't get tired.

The world holds so many nice souls to meet
Why should I sigh 'cause you went down the street
Why shouldn't I laugh and feel some joy...
So today I will speak to the new boy.
