Hold Me

By Bruce Clifford

I hear the knock
Of the hollow halls block
Sentimental freaks
Choice words for you and me

I know that pain
Of the cold hard nights and scent of the rain
All we once knew
Hidden agendas with lines and excuses

Hold me back I think I'm fallen
Hold the line before I slip in
Make your choice without stones and fire
Hold me back from the depths of desire

I hear the wind on the edge
Messages sent in a half forbidden pledge
Calming voice
The instrument of choice
This is our only voice
Our one and only choice

Hold me back I think I'm breathing
Hold that motion before I fall off of the line
The cry and the sorrow of the infinitely hated
Tug my arm and twist me a thousand times

Hold me back I think I'm fallen
Hold the line before I give it all away
Make your choice without the ice and fire
Hold me back from the depths of desire
It's getting me so much higher

Sentimental freaks
Inspirational salvation
Words for you and me
Take me up and set me free

Hold me back I think I'm breathing
Hold that motion before I fall off of the line
The cry and the sorrow of the silence of hatred
Tug my arm and twist me a thousand times

Hold me back I think I'm fallen
Hold the line before I give it all away
Make your choice without the ice and fire
Hold me back from the depths of desire
It's getting me so much higher
