The Year of Accountability

By Bruce Clifford

Wish I could paint a picture of you
If I could I know the colors I would choose
Wish I could draw the lines that would make any guy proud
If I could only find the brush to make you bold and loud

Wish I could paint a picture of you
Holding candles and wine on this sunny afternoon
Wish I could find the time to break away from these chains
Yesterday went so fast and now we try to make it through another crazy day

This is the year of accountability
Show no mercy and take everything you need
This is the year of possibility
What is the master plan none of us can see
What ever happened to predictability

Wish I could write a poem about you
If I did I would know the moment I broke through
Wish I could find the words to empty out my mind
Getting lost in the shuffle between the truth and the lies

This is the year of accountability
Show no mercy and take everything you need
This is the year of possibility
What is the master plan none of us can see
What ever happened to predictability

This is the year of accountability
Take you at your word and let the canvas breathe
This is the year of accountability
What every happened to the ordinary

Wish I could paint a picture of you
