Will We Ever Get This Right

By Bruce Clifford

Earth is not what it seems
So raw and so real
One man in his footprints
Reaching out and holding on for life

In the shape of silence
Their eyes meet as one
Two hearts in their footsteps
Touching fingertips and holding on to night

Will we ever get this right
I think about this night and day
Will we ever see the light
There has got to be a simpler way
There has got to be a different way

Time is not what it has been
The void of the cosmos
I couldn't tell you where to begin
The cheating hearts of pain
Make me want to scream again

Time is not what we thought we knew
There was a time we thought we could make it through
When the candle starts to burn out
I know this is the time to let my aura out

Will we ever get this right
I think about this night and day
Will we ever see the light
There has got to be a simpler way
There has got to be a different way
