Friendly

By John I. Blair

I’ve always been a friendly cuss;
Even as a child I thought
Everyone I saw was fine to smile at.

And I haven’t changed;
I still regard a stranger
As a chance to make a friend.

Oh I try to mind the limits
And dance away if signs
Are negative;

But given just the least
Encouragement
I’ll do my best to match it.

So if we meet
And I say “Hi”
Please don’t raise a fuss.
