Moments of Regret

By Bruce Clifford

There’s a war in my heart
Like the burst of a star
There’s no time to reflect
Moments of regret

There are walls around our conscience
Hiding between two molds
Seeing between the lines and battlefields
Waiting for just one moment to unfold

Wetlands, oceans, river of grass
The atmosphere’s so thin
The air is harder to breath
The city encompassed by the sea

There’s a war that’s raging on
Like the burst if a distant sun
It’s becoming harder to forget
Moments of regret

Decisions we make
The monuments we leave
What will be here tomorrow
It’s too hard to believe
