Moon and Evening Star

By John I. Blair

Once again tonight
The moon and evening star
Are sailing in the garden sky.

Both glow between the leaves
Of the trees in my dark yard,
Illuminating patches of the path,

Illuminating bits of leaf and flower,
My pale bare skin,
My midnight soul.
