Distant Thunder

By John I. Blair

Distant thunder
Rumbles in the twilight.

I shelter in my car
While rain falls.

Trees around me
Sway in gusty winds.

Night draws near,
Darkness.

All the stout houses
And cocooning steel
Cannot hide me long.
