Enough Of Me

By Bruce Clifford

There’s not enough of me to go around.
There’s not enough of you in my life.
Will I ever know what really went down?
All I ever wanted for you was to be safe and sound.

When you told me some things in life are “hard to shake off”.
Then you told me “painting is my true passion” I felt so lost.
I know it’s because you never shared with me the cause.
All I ever wanted for you was to never pay the cost.

There’s not enough of me to try to explain.
There’s not enough of you to figure this out
All the endless missing pieces, heartache and pain.
Do we have the chance to find the way?

When you told me “I’m finally independent”
Then you told me “be safe, be well”
I don’t know if it’s because you understand me.
I wish I was there to hold you when you fell.

There’s not enough of me to go around.
There’s not enough of you in my life.
Will I ever know what really went down?
All I ever wanted for you was to be safe and sound.
