Love The Snow
By
Mary E. Adair
I love the snow
Seen on Christmas cards;
Or drifting in the poems
By the famous bards;
On Travel poster ads
For a distant ski lodge;
Or in movies of kids
Building Snowmen hodge podge.
But not, do I want
It, covering my lawn.
Or falling from the sky
While I doze and yawn.
Don't like the delays
When snow blocks one's way,
And traffic's at a No-Go,
And the sky is dark gray.
So if you want snow
For your Holiday time,
Go to where it's welcome
Where sleigh bells can chime.
Enjoy your snow
Far away from me -
All I need for Christmas
Is my own little tree.
Call me a grouch,
If you feel you must.
But don't pray for snow
To cover West Texas dust.
