Eye for an Eye

By Bruce Clifford

An eye for an eye
A bullet for the gun
A heart for a soul
Service anyone?

An eye for an eye
People running scared
A penny for a thought
In a flash I will be there

Will you talk to me if we never get this right
I can take back my intuition if we need to see the light
The color and the babble of this boomerang called war
This is the end of what we have all been searching for
We thought we would find a whole lot more

An eye for an eye
A needle for the thread
A question for an answer
Memories of the dead

An eye for an eye
A hat for a glove
A hope for a vision
Dreams of enemies in love

Will you talk to me if we never get this right
I can take back my motivation if we need to see the light
The color and the babble of this boomerang called war
This is the end of what we have all been searching for
We thought we would find a whole lot more

I know in life there are many who defy
Many who can't compromise
An eye for an eye

Comment: Good one, Bruce. I think it was Ghandi who said, "An eye for an eye, and everyone is blind."
