Running

By Brooke Clifford

Running to nowhere
For reasons I don't know.
Moving over what seemed to be something
but everything's disappeared.
My fears are taking over
The fears I can't remember.
My mind is dark
Memory cloudy.
As I slow my pace
My eyes scan the area-
everything's disappeared
I'm all alone
But why?
Pausing to catch my breath
Heartbeat quick, hard to respond
To the toxic air around me.
Life flashing before my eyes
I look around to see my room.
The white walls, purple pillows
Posters on my wall.
I'm ice cold, but drenched in sweat.
I look to my window
To see a blinding white light.
Walking up to it
as everything disappeared...
