Wonderful Planet

By John I. Blair

I see pollution spoil pellucid skies,
Taste the chlorine taint in faucet water
Piped from pristine lakes or crystal streams,
Hear panic, peril, pain on every day.

I would not trade for nonexistence yet.
This is a wonderful planet; we are blessed.
But, for far too many, far too much,
The cost of being blessed comes very high.
