By John I. Blair

Sweetest of dogs,
Most loyal of friends,
Fearless and gentle,
Eager to please,
Guarding your mistress,
Guarding your child,
In a life all too brief
What memories you left.

You shine so far
In the mythic past
Your deeds became legends,
But that doesn’t mean
You were any less real,
Ursa the brave,
Secure in our hearts,
Brightest of stars.
