Miss Greywings

By M. Jay Mansfield

I don’t know if it’s the anger or sorrow of lost love…
Or is it lost friendships unretainable….
But this empty space in my chest eats my will…
Everyday I smile and laugh because I cannot cry..

One tear would reveal that all is a lie
Everything would come crashing down…
Brick by brick the house would fall
And then life would be as my soul - empty -
