Thank You

By M. Jay Mansfield

No longer do I cry for what is lost
I sit back, reflect and smile
I think of all the blessings that I hold

Each sweet spirit that came and went
Touching my life some just a bit
Others deep down in my soul

Some great fractures that shocked
Quick partings and fights
That immediately left a hole

Some long developing departures
Plain to see the eventuality
Just fire fading into the cold

I thank god that I was allowed to know
Each friend that let me in
The love I was allowed to hold

No more tears at all that’s gone
Happy in who I know
Today’s love protects me from the cold

No longer do I cry for what is lost
