I知 A Carbon-based Life Form

By John I. Blair

I知 a carbon-based life form
On a blotchy-looking planet
Near a third-rate star,

I知 an animated coal lump
Kept warm by rhythmic pumping
Of a rather dicey heart,

Kept plump and flushed by drinking
A nearly tasteless compound
That satisfies my thirst.

When I知 hungry I致e a penchant
For eating things of any kind
That doesn稚 eat me first

And a practice when I知 angry
Of killing those from any group
That do not seem my sort.

If God made me, I must conclude
That he or she痴 an amateur,
A hobbyist, a sport.
