Beauty

By John I. Blair

A butterfly is beautiful
Sipping nectar from a rose
But I think that you can tell
The butterfly itself looks just as fine
Supping serum from a rotting dog
Unless beauty truly dwells
Only in the mind and nose.

2004 John I. Blair
