We Agreed

I know that we agreed
I should be
The one to stay behind,

The one most fit
To stand the pain,
The emptiness.

And I know that choice
Was right,
Was true.

But sitting here
Tonight without you
Broke my heart again,

And I wonder
Just how many times
It can be broken.
