When Zander Snuggles Up

By John I. Blair

When Zander snuggles up along my back
I come as close as I have ever been
To feeling like his mother.

He bumps a bit against my bones,
Reminding me hes there,
Reminding me hes mine,

Mine as the others never seem
Who merely rub along my legs
Or poke their furry heads into my hand.

Its his neural nearness, I surmise,
Spine to spine (and purring)
That empowers this attachment.

All I know, without further cogitation,
Is that his method works
And makes me purr as well.
