Future

By Mary E. Adair

Future, if you haven't heard,
Is a Perfectly Possible P-Word.
Perhaps Propitious, or Placid, Plain,
Yet a P-Word, it shall remain.

Progressing from Pre-Paleolithic Phase,
Proceeding Precipitously, past Pleasant days,
Plummeting Precariously, Purely Propelled,
Despite People, Property, Prognostications Pummelled.

Oh! that it might be Pristinely Purified,
A Purview of Punctilious Positivity Plied.
May Plausible Problems rather be a Peace Preserved.
Yes, Future is a Perceptible P-Word.
