If

By Keith Vander Wees

If the petals on our roses bloom
would fall away like waning moon,
would you still want us to be?

If the heart that this sojourner has,
would turn to ash and lose it's cause,
would you still want us to be?

Haven't we both seen the lost and fallen
rise to grace then
lose their calling.

How can we doubt the beating heart,
when love can be
or love can part .

Let not a moment stagger
in between
the hopeful swagger.

Let us keep our moments close,
a makeshift hope
can mean the most.

Put me in your thoughts tonight,
as you sleep in love
I'll hold you tight,

And grant us the serenity,
to share our hearts
and let love be.
