The Farmer and God

By Lena Carroll

He buys the best seed available
Tills the land and breaks each clod
He plants his crops so tenderly
Then awaits the blessing of God:

For God sends the rain to water
The sun to make things grow
And always the fields and pastures
The warmth of His presence know.

And in the bright Fall harvest
God reveals His plan
He has smiled down from Heaven
And blessed the work of man.

Men who work with the soil
All seem to be strong of faith
They know the Lord will help them
So upon the Lord they wait.

Then in that bright Fall harvest
You see His handiwork unfold
For in each fruit and flower
The love of God is told.
